Culiacán, Sinaloa, November 24, 2022.- State Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, accompanied by the head of the Women’s Secretariat, Teresa Guerra Ochoa, and the President of the DIF State System, Eneyda Rocha Ruiz, launched the State Crusade Against Violence Against Women and Girls, a 16-day campaign of activism against gender violence.
Governor Rubén Rocha Moya explained that they must fight throughout the year to eradicate gender-based violence, however, he emphasized that in this 16-day day of activism against violence against women, they will try to raise awareness and promote a better culture to provide more and better security for women.
“Today we start and it’s true, said Guillermo (Guillermo Gastélum Bon, president of Coparmex Sinaloa), that we have to fight the violence that women suffer all year, but now internationally the day starts with Orange Day. to fight the violence that women suffer, we will try to raise awareness, create a culture, it is not easy,” she said.
She mentioned that they will seek to expand the legislation to allow greater guarantees for women who seek equal growth and better development.
The head of the women’s secretariat, María Teresa Guerra Ochoa, highlighted the importance of unifying efforts to isolate aggressors. For this reason, he emphasized the need for the private sector to become more involved, to punish those who commit violence against women.
“If we close ranks, if we really make the issue, the safety of women and girls, everyone’s issue, if we also voice those signs of zero tolerance for women and girls from the private sector, say: a space where we care about violence against women and girls and work to eradication. If we multiply this message, we will be successful,” she specified.
This event was also attended by the Secretary General of the Government Enrique Inzunza Cázarez, the Prosecutor specialized in attention to female victims of gender-based crimes Carla Patricia Fabela Galavis, the representative of Women of Peace Rosa Elvira Jacobo Lara, the President of Coparmex Sinaloa Guillermo Gastélum Bon, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the H. State Congress Ricardo Madrid Pérez, Representative Cecilia Covarrubias González and President of the Commission for Equality and Gender Almendra Negrete.
