See the steps you need to take to set up your Alexa speaker and factory reset it.
Alexa is one of Amazon’s most popular products. One of its strengths is the large number of devices that make up this assistant. The company even released an Echo that can be installed in any car, an idea that is sure to convince many. Despite the many features it offers, you may have made up your mind end your relationship with Alexa and her ecosystem. Or maybe you have problems with one of your speakers and the solution is to reset the device. Either way, what we have to tell you here is of great interest to you.
In the following paragraphs, we will explain what you should do reset your Amazon Echo speaker and factory reset. We tell you that the steps are really simple and that it will only take a few minutes to disconnect the speaker from your account. You can then sell it or configure it to integrate back into your device pool.
Factory reset Amazon Echo speaker using physical buttons
The first method we suggest is the most effective because it doesn’t depend on any app or website at all. Rather, you just need to have the speaker in front of you to start the reset process. Knowing these steps will be very useful if you are going to sell the device or if you bought it and the seller did not reset it.
Restoring your Amazon Echo speaker is as simple as this:
- Search action button. It is located in the lower part of the speaker and has a circular shape. Don’t confuse it with the microphone mute button.
- Press the Actions for button 20 seconds.
- Wait for the speaker light to turn orange.
- The speaker is now in configuration mode.
- Open Alexa on your mobile phone and set up the device.
This method is compatible with Echo Dot 3rd generation and later. On other Amazon devices, you may need to press a button volume down and microphone mute buttons for 20 seconds. This other method is an alternative that works on the Echo Studio or the second-generation Echo Dot, for example. This is done as shown in the following figure:
Finally, if the speaker has a screen like the Echo Dot or Echo Show, the option is located in the device’s settings and accessible through the touch menus. The above methods also work.
Unregister the speaker using the Alexa mobile app
The second option for reset your Amazon Echo speaker is to use the Alexa device manager. Just go to the section Furtherpress ** Settings ** and then press Device configuration.
Finally, select the device you want to remove from your account, go to its settings and tap on Cancel registration. Once you confirm the action, the speaker will start to reset itself.
