With the political calendar red-hot, Spain’s future (and still unfinished) government is already reworking the plan to lay the foundations for this new legislature. One of the most prominent pillars is composition of the Congress Committee and therefore the appointment of its president.

How many MPs make up the Parliamentary Council?
The Presidium of the Chamber of Deputies consists of 350 deputies, with a visible head who is its president. In addition to the president, other important managerial positions are four vice presidents and four secretaries. On this day we will also know their names.
All of them have a lot of work and different functions the proper functioning of a key body in the management of the Spanish government. Its duties include the organization of all performances necessary for the proper functioning of the legislature.
Budgeting, document processing, personnel management… these are all functions that this organization can take on. For this reason, the event to be held on August 17 is of great importance and will keep all political forces in suspense.
How is the Chairman of the Presidium of the Chamber of Deputies elected?
By voting. It should be remembered that this organization is one of the democratic bastions in our country and as such the procedures are based on the active participation of all its members.
When electing the chairman of the board of directors, each deputy writes his name on the ballot and after counting, the one who gets the majority (176 votes) will be elected.
But it could happen that none of them will get this number of ballots. No problem. Only the first two, i.e. the two candidates with the largest number of votes, will enter this new batch of votes.
Once at this point, the vote will be repeated, with one of them being elected.
This selection regime only serves to elect the Chairman of the Board of Directors, but cannot be extrapolated to other positions. In the case of vice presidents and secretaries, all deputies vote on him again and the first four are appointed to each position.
All of these procedures are covered in an important government governing document such as the Congressional Order.
PSOE – PP pact to preside over the Lower House
PP Alberto Núñez Feijoó has announced that he is not willing to throw in the towel for the presidency of the Congressional Council. In an effort to bring his “Blue Summer” to this body, he will try to find pacts and agreements that will lead his party to occupy the presidency.
However, PSOE seems to have it easier. And the fact is that Sánchez’s party already has the exit, if the initial forecasts do not change, with the support of the parties with which they currently form a government coalition. If a socialist presidency were to succeed, it would show public opinion that giving continuity to the current government is quite a feasible option.
