Dronamics is the first cargo drone airline to receive designation codes from IATA and ICAO

Bulgarian company Dronamics became the first cargo drone airline to receive designation codes International Air Transport Association (International Air Transport Association, IATA) a International Civil Aviation Organization (International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO).

IATA assigned the OY code along with the accounting prefix 651. According to the company, this name plays a vital role in the airline industry and serves as the basic identifier for airlines, their destinations and cargo documents. They allow Dronamics to be officially recognized as an airline, support inter-line commercial agreements with other IATA airlines, facilitate connections with carriers and allow publication of flight schedules via OAG (Official Aviation Guide of the Airways), the world’s leading provider of digital flight information.

In detail, the OY code will be used to assign flight numbers for scheduled and non-scheduled flights, providing standardized identification across all its operations. On the other hand, Airline Accounting Prefix 651 gives Dronamics the ability to issue Air Waybills (AWB for its acronym in English), which facilitates the seamless transportation of cargo within its extensive network.

ICAO

In addition, ICAO has assigned a telephone call sign to Dronamics black Swan and the airline’s three-letter designation “DXE‘. These codes are widely used by pilots and air traffic controllers around the world and play a key role in flight planning, communication with air traffic control and the dissemination of important information via Notam (Warning for air missions).

Co-founder and CEO of Dronamics, Svilen Rangelovnoted that “Becoming the first airline with cargo drones with both IATA and ICAO designation codes is a testament to Dronamics’ pioneering spirit and our vision for faster, cheaper and greener air cargo for all, “This recognition from the leading aviation community strengthens our position on the international aviation map .”

It is worth noting that at the end of May last year, the company made the first flight of its Black Swan cargo drone in Bulgaria. It is a long-range system that can travel up to 2,500 kilometers with a maximum load of 350 kilograms. These features, the company notes, enable same-day shipping over very long distances for a variety of industries. In terms of speed, the plane can reach 200 kilometers per hour. As for its altitude, it is capable of flying at a height exceeding 6000 meters. The wingspan of the UAS is 16 meters, with a fuselage of eight and a height of four.
