Everything about China
Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Goldwind has installed a new 16 megawatt structure in record time. The offshore turbine would be the size of a 50 square meter plot of land and would be up and running in as little as (and even) 24 hours.

Installation in record time
Goldwind already installed another 16 megawatt turbine in September this year. The building became famous for breaking the world record for electricity production. For a certain period, it produced 384.1 megawatt hours in 24 hours. The energy is enough to supply nearly 170,000 homes.
Now one company has proposed a procedure for installing turbines. And what is possible is setting a “new record for faster installation of ultra-large capacity #offshore units”. The company still stands out for having used strategies that proactively optimize processes using simulations.
According to Goldwind, the faster process reduces construction costs. The method, considered a “fundamental advance for expanding the potential of offshore wind in future projects”, will be put into practice again in the future.
New wind turbine
- The 16 megawatt offshore wind turbine (called GWH252-16MW) has a rotor diameter of 252 meters.
- The building has a roofed area of about 50,000 square meters, which corresponds to seven private football fields.
- The turbine cube is 146 meters high, it is so high that it has a space of 50 meters.
- Information is available from Electrek.
